On Thursday 24 October 2024, Jonathon Heyward makes his debut with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall. The programme features William Grant Still’s Threnody (In Memory of Jean Sibelius), Sibelius’ Symphony No.5 and Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with pianist Yeol Eum Son.
Yeol Eum will return to the UK with Jonathon in December for her orchestral debut with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Centre, London. She will perform Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2, with the electrifying programme also featuring James Lee III’s Sukkot Through Orion’s Nebula and Ottorino Respighi’s Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome. This concert will also be both Yeol Eum and Jonathon’s Barbican Centre debuts.
Yeol Eum’s orchestral debuts this season include Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Vienna Tonkünstler Orchestra at Vienna Musikverein and London’s Cadogan Hall, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Galicia Symphony Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, St. Louis, Colorado, Baltimore, Symphony Orchestras, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Yeol Eum also returns to the NAC Ottawa, Scottish Chamber, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto.
Jonathon’s recent and future guest conducting highlights in the UK and Ireland include debuts and re-invitations with the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, The Hallé in Manchester, Royal Academy of Music, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and National Symphony Orchestra Ireland. In continental Europe, amongst Jonathon’s recent and forthcoming debuts are collaborations with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, Galicia Symphony, Danish National Symphony, the Castilla y León Symphony, Brussels Philharmonic, Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine and Tonhalle Düsseldorf among many others.
In high demand in the USA, and in addition to his Music Director positions with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and at New York’s Lincoln Center, Jonathon conducts prominent orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic; the Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Seattle, Dallas, and St Louis symphonies; and the Minnesota Orchestra.
